Tanks
Scuba tanks come in several sizes, but pretty much the same shape. As for materials, the two most common are steel and aluminum. Steel scuba tanks are usually heavier in water, meaning you can wear less weight around your waste to descend in the water. Steel is stronger than aluminum so the tank walls can be thinner which means a steel scuba tank that holds 80 cubic feet of air would be smaller than an aluminum scuba tank that holds 80 cubic feet of air. Aluminum scuba tanks are oftentimes less expensive. Usually scuba tanks are sold with a valve. There are two common types here in U.S., yoke and DIN. Be sure to know what kind of connection you'll need based on the first stage of your regulator. Yoke is probably more common but DIN is a great option. Due to its design, a DIN valve can accommodate a higher pressure. Tanks above 3300psi usually use a DIN connection. Take note: there is also a European DIN connection which is slightly smaller than the U.S. version. The most common scuba tank pressures are 2250, 3000, and 3500.
