Masks are the window to the underwater world. All of the masks we sell on our site are scuba-grade masks. They are appropriate for a pressure changing environment and will stay comfortable on your face. A good mask has soft silicone, tempered lenses, and a sturdy frame. There are many frame colors to choose from as well as different colors of silicone, the most common being clear and black. Some divers say black silicone has a tendency to keep peripheral light from your eyes, avoiding a slight constriction of your pupils. On the other hand, some divers say black silicone creates a blinder effect that is a little distracting. Some masks have special lenses which are either color-correcting or are "Ultra clear". Prescription lenses are also available but if it's possible to use soft contacts, that is usually recommended so that you can see when your mask is off your face at the surface. As for the straps, check out the Slap Straps- one of the least expensive and best accessories you can buy for your mask- no tangled hair!
